About Us

Bristol and District Organists' Association (BDOA)Bristol and District Organists' Association (BDOA)

The Bristol and District Organists' Association (BDOA) is affiliated to the 'Incorporated Association of Organists' (IAO) its parent body. There are 100 local associations like the BDOA with a membership of 7,400.

The IAO is an educational charity. Its officers and council are constantly seeking ways to raise funds to improve the level and quality of its services to the associations and their members.

The BDOA was founded in 1934 to advance the education of the public in the study of the art of music with reference to organ music.

The Association offers advice to performers, teachers, students, churchmen and members of the public concerned with improvement in standards of performance, and in playing the organ.

During each year we arrange lectures, visit organs, and demonstrate the organ. Quarterly, each member receives a copy of the magazine "The Organists' Review" and the local association bulletin. They also receive on an annual basis a directory of Members, which shows organists who are available to deputise for church organists and others, and a card showing a programme of events for the year
