THE CATHEDRAL ORGANISTS
In January 2024, the organ of Bristol Cathedral is coming out for a full 18-month restoration by Harrison and Harrison: the scaffolding goes up next month!
To mark this important event, and say bon voyage, the cathedral organists, Mark Lee, Paul Walton, and Will Forrest, are putting on a three-way recital, to include the cathedral organ, the Viscount digital that will be standing in, and the cathedral’s own Kenneth Tickell chamber organ. Much of the music will involve all three organs and organists simultaneously, and there will be works by both JS and PDQ Bach, Handel, Sousa, Soler and Rutter. There will be CCTV in the cathedral organ loft.
Admission is free, and we look forward to welcoming you, as the cathedral organ starts its historic journey.
