On Wednesday 10th April we are holding a panel discussion entitled “Church Music: What do the Clergy Really Want?”.
It will take place in the Main Hall at St Monica’s Retirement Village, Cote Lane BS9 3UN at 7.30pm.
To promote lively and spontaneous debate this will be a live only event (i.e. NOT online).
This will be an ‘Any Questions?’ style symposium, chaired by the Right Reverend Robert Springett, the Bishop of Tewksbury. The other panel members will be:
- Canon Nicola Stanley, former Precentor of Bristol Cathedral
- Revd Christine Butler, Rector of Sodbury Vale Benefice
- Revd Graham Morris, Vicar of Cirencester
- Revd Canon Brendan Clover, Vicar of St John the Evangelist, Clevedon and Precentor of Bristol Cathedral 1999-2006
This will be your Golden Opportunity to interrogate some influential priests about where they think we are going with music in worship generally, and what role there may be in future for pipe organs and classically-trained organists in parish ministry. In addition to any questions that arise from the discussion on the night, members have been invited to submit questions in advance. These will be put to the panel by the Bishop to stimulate discussion.
Please do come along and support our President and the panel members he has assembled. This will be one of the final events of Nick Sherwood’s Presidential Year, and we hope it will be well attended.
