He was Organist and Director of Music at St Mary’s Church, The Boltons, in west London for thirteen years, where he directed a choir of professional singers. Currently, he is a freelance organist and teacher living near Gloucester. Since 1990, Simon combined organ playing with his role as an engineer at Abbey Road Studios in London, mastering both old and new recordings. During almost 35 years at Abbey Road, he worked on projects as diverse as the complete Maria Callas studio recordings and The Beatles Album Remasters (2009), as well as many recordings from the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge. He has mastered numerous film soundtracks and stage musical cast albums and has been nominated for a Grammy on several occasions.
He now works as a freelance Mastering Engineer from his home studio. www.simongibsonmastering.com
