
The Bristol Eisteddford
This is the name given to the original Music Festival, founded in 1903 by William Fowler. At its peak it attracted over 6000 performers and attracted adjudicators such as Sir Adrian Boult, Herbert Howells and Gustav Holst. The City Council took on responsibility for the event but ceased funding it in the 1990s, whereupon the event changed its name to the Bristol Festival of Music, Speech and Drama
