AN ILLUSTRATED TALK BY MARTIN FIRTH
On Wednesday 17th June from 10.30 – 12 noon Martin Firth will be reprising his talk on Julius Reubke’s monumental Sonata on the 94th Psalm. Members may remember Martin giving this talk via Zoom during the Covid lockdown: this time he is giving it live. He will explore the work’s roots in Liszt’s Bmin Piano Sonata, and that of Schubert’s ‘Wanderer’ Sonata, making it the finest organ work of the 19th century. He will also be showing a video performance of the entire work.
The talk is hosted by U3A but BDOA members are welcome, and is at Westbury Fields, Cricket Lane, BS10 6TW (far end of Greystoke Avenue/Falcondale Road.) The event is free and refreshments are £1.
