With the support of the St Monica Trust, Eric Tyson has organised a series of matinée recitals on the recently refurbished Willis organ in the chapel at St Monica’s. They take place on the third Monday of each month at 2.00pm.

This month the recital is given by DAVID BEDNALL, Bristol-based organist, composer and conductor. His programme is as follows:

  • March on a theme of Handel – Alexandre Guilmant (1837 – 1911)
  • Méditation from 24 Pièces en style libre – Louis Vierne (1870 – 1937)
  • Marche pour la cérémonie des Turcs (From Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme) – Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632 – 1687)
  • Estampie from Robertsbridge Codex – Anonymous (c.1360)
  • Benedictus (‘I bring refreshment – I bring ease and calm’ C. Rossetti) – Alec Rowley (1892 – 1958)
  • In Paradisum (from Douze Pièces Nouvelles) – Théodore Dubois (1837 – 1924)
  • Te lucis ante terminum & Placare Christe servulis (Le Tombeau de Titelouze) – Marcel Dupré (1886 – 1971)
