DURSLEY 2026 COFFEE, CAKE & MUSIC
The 22nd Coffee, Cake and Music organ recitals at St James-the-Great, Dursley (GL11 4JE) begin on Saturday 25th April with the return of Stephen Power. Stephen’s programme will include music mainly by English composers all of whose dates have something to celebrate in 2026. Do join us for what promises to be a most interesting programme:
- Exultemus (from Seven Sketches) – Percy Whitlock (1903-1946)
- Introduction and Fugue in C# minor – Samuel Sebastian Wesley (1810-1876)
- Prelude and Fugue on a theme of Victoria – Benjamin Britten (1913-1976)
- Allegro Giocoso (Scherzo from Sonata) – Edward Cuthbert Bairstow (1874-1946)
- Sixteen Preludes founded on Melodies from the English and Scottish Psalters – Charles Wood (1866-1926)
V “York Tune” & VII “Southwell Tune” - Introduction, variations and fugue on “God save the King” – Max Reger (1873-1916)
Coffee and home-made cake will be served from 10.30am. The music begins at 11.00am and lasts for about 30 – 40 minutes.
There is no charge, though a retiring collection will be taken, the proceeds of which will go to the work of St James’s church.
