Our president, John Davenport, has been able to assemble an orchestra of some of Bristol’s finest players, together with a distinguished line-up of soloists. There are three organ concertos after Beethoven’s familiar ‘Coriolan’ Overture. Brixi, a Czech composer, was an exact contemporary of Haydn, and his music has the freshness and exuberance of early Haydn. Although the Handel concerto to be performed is not one of the best known, it contains absolutely delightful music. Guilmant was a major figure in French 19thC organ music, and his Organ Symphony is full of good tunes.
Admission is free, with a retiring collection (cash or card)
