Eric Tyson was born in Bolton and educated at Bolton School where he had organ lessons with Norman Harper. He studied chemistry at Hatfield College in Durham and continued his organ studies with the assistant organists at the Cathedral, Alan Thurlow and David Hill. He then moved to London where he worked for British Telecom and was also organist of St John’s Leytonstone in the East of London for seven years. He moved to Bristol in 1995 to work for a telecommunications consulting company based in Chepstow and became assistant organist at St Mary’s Wotton under Edge, a post he held for four years until his international work travelling commitments prevented him providing the necessary commitment.
Eric has been the accompanist for a group of singers called the Clarkes of Old Sarum for over 25 years and has played for other groups from time to time which visit cathedrals around the UK to sing services for half term weekends and also summer residence weeks. He has played for these groups in numerous cathedrals across the UK including Bristol, Wells, Canterbury, St Paul’s and Westminster Abbey. Eric has also given recitals in the UK, Canada, Slovak Republic, the Netherlands and Australia. He is the assistant organist at All Saints Clifton and also the secretary of the Bristol and District Organists’ Association.
Admission by £5 donation.
We also welcome donations to the organ fund.

Whilst in the area you might like to take the opportunity to visit the sustainable Whiteladies Road Farmers Market, almost directly opposite the church. A good range of fresh, locally sourced, low-package fruit and veg, bakery goods, fish and meat are on sale, at sensible prices.
