Michael Bonaventure is a composer, organist and general protagonist in new and experimental music projects. Among the elements shaping his music are minimalism, improvisation and electronic music techniques.

St James's resident organist and recitals organiser Nigel Davies gives this, the penultimate concert in the 2025 series on Saturday 27th September. Coffee and home-made cake will be served from 10.30am. The music begins at 11.00am and lasts for about 30 – 40 minutes.

Recital given by Professor Friedhelm Flamme from Detmold to mark the 10th Anniversary of the rebuilding of the organ.

Unfortunately the remedial work on the organ seems unlikely to have been completed in time for the return of the Saturday Morning Organ Treats. William Forrest will give his recital early in 2026 - date to follow. Claire Hobbs will give the first concert in the series on 18th October.

This year's all-Bach recital series, given by Paul Walton, comes to an end on 17th September, when the featured Trio Sonata will be No 5 in C major (BWV 529)

This month's Organ Elevenses is given by Huw Morgan. Hot drinks and cake are served from 1030; the music begins at 11.00 and lasts around 40 mins.

There will be a concert by Pavlos Triantaris and Marily Kritikou at Holy Trinity Horfield at 3pm on Saturday 30 August.

John's programme is based on hymn tunes and includes works by Grayston Ives, Joseph Bonnet and Denis Bedard as well as one of his own compositions. Coffee and home-made cake will be served from 10.30am. The music begins at 11.00am and lasts for about 30 – 40 minutes.

RUTH VAN RYNEVELD | Soprano. After singing in the SMR girls’ choir, and then having a Gap Year Scholarship supported by The Ousley Church Music Trust, Ruth gives a farewell recital to SMR this summer before she heads to university.

GEORGE ROBEY from Cheshire, plays music by Whitlock, Alain, Mendelssohn, and Prélude sur le Thème du Carillon de Soissons (Duruflé).

Paul Walton continues his all-Bach series of recitals at All Saints Clifton, featuring at its heart the Trio Sonata No 3 in Dmin, BWV527.

Saturday 5th July at 2pm at St Monica's. The event will be in three parts: A short talk by Nick Sherwood, a demonstration of the organ; open console for members to explore the rebuilt organ.
